BEAULITE PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL

Christine Chesworth runs a clinic once a month (Sundays) for permanent hair removal by light pulse therapy.

We have compiled an FAQ for your information about this service

Q. What does the treatment feel like?
A. The sensation felt varies very much from person to person and area to area. Most people feel a slight feeling of warmth on the area.

Q. What are the after effects of the treatment?

A. There are no after effects as such, some people may notice slight redness in the area, and this is just physiological response and will disappear within a few hours.

Q. Will I have any scarring of the skin after the treatment?
A. Because the treatment is gentle and only heats the melanin in the hair shaft and not the skin, there is no risk of scarring.

Q. Do I need to do anything to the hairs before the treatment?
A. The first time you have the treatment the therapist must be able to see the hairs so she can input the correct settings on the machine. You must insure the hairs have not been plucked, waxed or have been removed by electrolysis for six weeks prior to treatment.

Q. Why do the hairs have to be shaved?
A. The hairs have to be shaved because the hair on the surface would absorb the light and would not reach the root of the hair under the skin, rendering the treatment ineffective

Q. Will shaving affect the hairs that have not been treated by the light?
A. No, the hairs will not be affected by shaving them; it is purely part of the preparation for the treatment.

Q. Why are the hairs not removed from the follicle straight away?
A. You would need to reach an extreme temperature to completely vaporise the hair from the follicle and in turn blister or burn the skin. The freedom treatment is gentle and the hairs are left in the follicle and then fall out 14 days later.

Q. Once the hairs have been treated and have fallen out will they grow back?
A. Once the hairs have been caught in the actively growing stages then they will not grow back again (Hormonal conditions can effect the growth cycles)

Q. Can I do anything to the hairs that are left behind after the treatment?
A. You may do anything to the hairs that does not remove them from the follicle, so you may shave, bleach or use hair removal creams.

Q. Can the IPL light penetrate the skin further and cause any seriouse problems?
A. The light used is just red light and is completely safe and gentle and will not damage the skin in any way.

Q. Does natural sunlight or light from the sunbed affect the treated area?
A. After being exposed to sunlight or sun beds you will need to wait at least 2 weeks before treatment. The treatment would feel painful and there would be a minimal risk of pigmentation patches.

Q. Can you treat anywhere on the body or face?
A. You may safely treat anywhere on the body or face.

Q. If I do not come on a regular basis for treatments will it affect the outcome?
A. Each time you have a treatment a percentage of hairs will be cleared. And so, while the regularity of visits will not affect the outcome, obviously the time taken to clear the area will be longer.

Q. How long will treatment take?
A. A facial treatment takes around 5-10 minutes whereas both legs or an entire back can take approximately 2-2½ hours. The extra time is needed to prepare the skin for the treatment.

SEMI PERMANENT MAKE-UP

Cosmetic Tattooing (Skin Art) goes back to biblical times, discovered on the skin of Egyptian mummies dating back to 2000 B.C. Primitive implements of the trade, at that time, were soot or gunpowder implanted with a bamboo stick or sharpened stone. Dermalpigmentation, commonly known as tattooing, has been present for centuries in our cultures for the purpose of body adornment. Cleopatra’s eyes were permanently tattooed. Did you really think she was a born beauty?

"PERMANENT MAKE-UP" is not make-up as we know make-up to be, (from your local drug store, or other cosmetic companies), "Permanent Make-Up" is a term used to describe facial cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation. Color pigments are placed just below the dermis of the skin for the purpose of creating lines of definition to enhance facial beauty, indefinitely. This service is custom designed for each individual client according to their face shape, skin-tone, eye color and hair color. This technique has been used by plastic surgeons and dermatologist as well as trained Permanent Make-Up Technicians.

Permanent cosmetics personally benefit people with poor vision, arthritis, problems with dexterity, allergies to make-up, watery eyes, problems with contact lenses or oily skin that causes make-up to smear. Convenience is also a great consideration for busy people example: athletic people who want to look good during sports or exercise. Some people simply do not like to be seen without make-up at any time. One of the most beneficial uses of permanent eye make-up is to recreate the illusion of lost lashes and brows due to hair loss induced by chemotherapy, alopecia areata, heredity balding or over tweezing. A sudden loss of hair can be very devastating, although wigs are readily available. What about losing your eyebrows and eyelashes?

More and more people are becoming aware of the advantages of permanent cosmetics and how it can enhance and accent their own natural beauty! It will not wash off or smear and will always look professionally applied. The art of cosmetic tattooing has helped many people achieve their desired beauty. It is no longer just available to the rich and famous, but to anyone who really cares to look their very best! You can correct unshapely eyebrows, define a pair of beautiful eyes, sculpture a pair of voluminous lips and don’t forget a beauty mark to really show off your face!

Is this you?

  • Too busy to look your very best?
  • Never learned to apply make-up properly?
  • Want to look fresh & natural always?
  • Are you allergic to cosmetics?
  • Do you have oily skin that won’t hold make-up well?
  • Do you have a physical or visual limitations that hinders your ability to apply make-up?
  • Now you can save countless hours shopping for pencils, sharpening pencils, the cost of buying all your pencils, not to mention all the work of shaping your eyebrows, eyeliner and lipliner. Save yourself the embarrassment of having your pencil lines slide down your face halfway through the day.

Q. Who would have this treatment?
A. Ladies with: Active lifestyles, contact lenses, visual impairment, hay fever or watery eyes, little or no brow hair, sparse or light eyelashes, difficulty in make-up application, unsteady or arthritic hands, allergies to conventional cosmetics, a desire to always look their best

Q. How long will the treatment last?
A. Normally 3-7 years, maybe longer. Re-enhancements are recommended for maintenance, once a year, or every 2 years

Q. Does it hurt?
A. Some people find it a little uncomfortable. However, we use a numbing cream, at a charge of £10, which can be applied so no discomfort is felt

Q. How long will it take?
A. Most procedures take between ½ - 1 hour. Consultation time will depend on approval from client

Q. How is it done?
A. Sterilized, disposable needles are used to implant hundreds of tiny dots of coloured mineral pigment beneath the basal (top) layer of the skin, enhancing natural features

EYEBROWS

Have you tweezed your eyebrows to death, and they never grew back in? Have your eyebrows drooped due to the aging process, or maybe you have a scar in your eyebrow that always has to be penciled in? "Cosmetic tattooing can literally give you a mini eye-lift. You will be amazed at the more youthful look you will have. Your Permanent Make-Up technician will help you choose the desired shape and color that will best enhance your, face shape. The color of your eyebrows are usually one shade lighter than your hair color.

EYELINER

Choose a color that compliments your eyes. Dramatize them: be as beautiful as possible. People always look at your eyes when they are speaking with you. Large eyes with thick lashes are more apt to catch your attention. Permanent eyelining along the eyelashes give the elusion of thicker lashes and more beautiful definition of the eyes. Shape, color and thickness of lines are determined by your Permanent Make-Up Technician and you.

LIPLINER

Do you have problems with lipstick bleeding or your lips are not quite as thick as you would like them? Permanent Make-Up is the answer for you! The permanent implanted color actually builds a ridge to stop lipstick from bleeding. A thick line above your natural lip line will build up thin lips. Drawing a line inside your lip line will diminish excessively large lips to make them appear smaller. You can choose colors ranging from bright red to a soft pink to just a dark skin tone. These issues are discussed in your consultation appointment.

BEAUTY MARKS

Beauty marks are permanently created to accent a beautiful area of the face. Usually placed at the highest point of the cheek-bone, near the eye to attract others to your eyes, or near the mouth to bring their attention to your beautiful lips. Depending on your skin tone, the beauty marks can range from light brown, medium to dark brown, to black. For example: Stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Cindy Crawford and Madonna.

TATTOO REMOVAL

Don’t let an unwanted or unsightly tattoo stop you from wearing the clothes you want or stand in the way of your career!

Are you fed up of wearing long sleeve shirts in the summer, or covering up when everyone else is stripping off?

Or perhaps your tattoo serves as an all too permanent reminder to an uncomfortable or unwanted memory?

Until recently getting an unwanted tattoo removed has been a daunting task, but now there is a revolutionary method of ink extraction developed in the USA to remove that tattoo quickly, easily and permanently.

The e-raze system works much like having the original tattoo, but instead of ink uses a specially formulated cream that bonds with the original tattoo ink and draws it to the skin surface. The cream doesn’t remain in the skin, or replace the tattoo and the treatment is so effective that a tattoo can usually be completely removed in just three or four sessions, compared to the dozens of treatments required by laser removal methods.

Does it hurt?
The treatment is very similar to being tattooed. Painaway a powerful anesthetic agent is used to numb the skin prior to treatment.

How long does a treatment take?
A treatment takes around 45 to 60 minutes to cover a 2x2 inch square area.

What's in the removal cream?
The removal cream has been specifically developed for the purpose of removing tattoos by bonding with the tattoo ink and causing its expulsion from the body. Many of the ingredients can be found in food and cosmetic products. The ingredients in order of quantity are as follows Water, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, n-propanol, TEA benzoic acid. Only a very small amount of cream is required per treatment typically less than 3-4ml most of which does not penetrate the skin, exposure is minimal and chemical concentrations in the cream present little or no risk. The treatment has been approved by various health and safety officers around the UK.

If you tattoo the removal cream in does this mean it gets left in the body rather than the tattoo?
No, the removal cream is designed to bond to and absorb the tattoo ink and extract the ink to the skin surface. It does not replace the tattoo and it does not remain in the skin. It is not a skin colored cover up tattoo.

How will I know if this treatment is suitable for me?
The treatment is suitable for most people, however a through consultation is carried out prior to any treatment. Generally if you have tolerated the original tattoo process then this treatment is very similar.

How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
On average most tattoos can be removed in three to four treatments depending on size and location. Very old tattoos may take extra treatment. We do not normally recommend treating a complete arm or leg band tattoo in one sitting but usually treat it in sections. We normally recommend that a maximum single area of two square inches is treated to minimise discomfort after treatment, If you require a larger area to be treated then please discuss this with your technician.

How frequently can I have the treatment?
It will generally take about two weeks from the initial treatment for most of the crusting to fall away, normally after around six to eight weeks the area is completely healed and can be re-treated.

How soon will I see the results?
The most amazing thing about this treatment is that you will actually get to see the results in just a few days. After the treatment a sterile dressing is applied which must be kept on and kept dry for 48 hours. After removing the dressing a good crust will form over the treated skin, as the crust falls away it will take the unwanted tattoo ink with it. It is likely that parts of the tattoo will be almost completely erased on just the first treatment.Your tattoo can be completely removed in just a matter of months, compared to years that it takes with laser.

Can I have this treatment if I've had laser treatment?
It is possible to treat tattoos that have previously undergone laser treatment, however the results can be less successful due to sub-dermal scar tissue left behind by the laser process, please call us to discuss. It is perfectly safe to have laser treatment on your tattoo after it has been treated with the e-raze system if necessary.

I have a home made tattoo, will this system work on that?
Yes, usually the ink in home made tattoos is less resilient than that used in professionally applied tattoos and can be removed very easily, however unlike professional tattoos ink depth can be very random which may make additional treatments necessary.

I have permanent make up, can this system remove that?
Yes this treatment will completely remove permanent make up, the only place its not suitable for is sensitive areas near the eyes, or where there is a risk of moisture contamination.

Can all pigments be removed?
Yes the process acts upon all pigments equally, unlike laser which is ineffective against certain pigments. The success rate of tattoo color removal is 100% for permanent makeup and over 92% for body tattoos, much higher than the success rate of laser treatment.*

Will it leave a permanent scar?
The removal process is well tolerated by the skin the scarring rate in a published series of 98 patients (Cosmetic Dermatology April, 2001) was 0% for permanent makeup and 6% for body tattoos (micro-scarring) compared to laser with a 5% chance that a permanent scar will form**. Usually if you did not suffer any complications when the tattoo was originally applied, do not suffer from keloids and the treated area is cared for properly then the risk of scarring should be minimal. If the original tattoo has been applied too deeply, (tattoo has become blurred) then attempted removal can be more liable to scarring. Please discuss this with your technician. It is recommended that a small trial area is tested first. It is also important to follow the after care instructions provided.

Are there any lasting side effects?
There have been no lasting side effects documented arising out of the removal treatment. The area may be sore for around a week after treatment and following the final treatment the area may appear slightly redder however this should fade to the normal skin colour after a few months. None of the cases in the Cosmetic Dermatology April, 2001 study of 98 patients demonstrated destruction of the skin's natural pigment unlike laser where hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation can be more common.

Do you guarantee complete tattoo removal?
Every individual tattoo is unique some will respond better than others to particular treatments. Therefore no guarantee can be made on the likely sucess of the treatment. The published success rate of tattoo color removal is 100% for permanent makeup and over 92% for body tattoos, better than any other currently available tattoo removal technique.

Who developed the removal cream?
The tattoo removal cream is developed by Rejuvi Laboratory San Francisco which was founded in 1988 by Dr. Wade Cheng, a distinguished and renowned biochemist in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Cheng has an extensive multi-disciplinary background in biochemistry, pharmacology, chemical engineering and Oriental herbalogy. Working closely with his former professor, Dr. Arthur Furst, a leading research scientist, the team created the Rejuvi product line, Rejuvi Plus Botanical line and Rejuville Anti-aging hair care line. In collaboration with the leading Scandinavian skincare expert - Marie Evertson, the unique Rejuvi professional treatment line and the extensive home care line were developed and are successfully used in salons and spas throughout the world.
